May 16, 2003 - Was sick today (first day of the con) :-( but at least I have more time to finish Ein
- I added some padding to his rump but it wasn't working very well... other than that I just put some finishing touches on, straightening stuff, etc. Mostly I needed to finish out ACen Mascot Girls jackets (see appropriate section in our costume listing)
May 15, 2003 - Attached fur to other side of Ein's head
- Painted PVC vinyl for ears, collar, eyes and nose (real nose)
- Attached ears
- Attached fur to nose
- Attached eyes, nose, collar and gold tag that I made at the pet store I work at
- Lined mouth with black fabric that I'm using on the ACen Mascot Girls costumes
May 14, 2003 - Evened out the Celluclayed Ein-head with ripped up quilt batting
- Made test pattern for the fabric covering the head (not nose yet)
- Finally cut out fur fabric and attached to one side of head
- Made test pattern for nose
May 13, 2003 - Made test pattern, cut, and bent pipe cleaners for ears einheadcelluclay.jpg
May 9-12, 2003 - continued to put celluclay on... small bits at a time and leaving it to dry overnight under a fan.
May 8, 2003 - Attached wire mesh nose to wire mesh head... If you're wondering why I keep adding the words "wire mesh" to everything it's because I'm afraid that it won't turn out and by adding "wire mesh" it makes it feel like it's not as big of deal if I mess up... yes, I'm serious ::shakes head:: oh well.
- Started to apply Celluclay... I started putting some around the bottom half on one side... I was afraid if I put more on it might collapse under it's own weight... that stuff is pretty heavy when it's wet and the wire mesh isn't as strong as... well let's say chicken wire :-P
Ein Head w/nose
Ein Head: Watch out!
March 30, 2003 - attempted to form Ein's head with wire mesh einhead01.jpg
March 28, 2003 - made little stub of a tail and attached to rump
- pinned and hot glued on final leg!  Woohoo!
- Tried Ein on and he looks good so far! :-)  Now the only big thing I have left is to make his head... ::deep breath::

March 26, 2003 - pinned and hot glued three of the four legs onto body
December 21, 2002
(Winter Break)
- cut, sewed, and glued all four legs
- pinned two legs to body and tried it on!

December 20, 2002
(Winter Break)
- Went ahead and started in on the fur fabric... thank God I bought a smidge extra! Yes yes yes... read random costume tip #7 about the test fabric width. It's my own costume tip and I screw it up! That is so like me. Anyway, it's alright because I got extra! EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA! :-D
- I did a test swatch of the two different color fabrics as well as different sewing/glueing methods and determined the best method for each seam. Then I put together the body of my final Ein! (no legs and definately no head yet, but a body is good enough at this point) :-D

December 19, 2002
(Winter Break)
- Went to Hobby Lobby and bought $44.00 worth of brown and off-white fur fabric as well as two packages of stuffed fluff for Ein's rump and chest. ::looks at checking account in disbelief:: No one said this costume was gonna be cheap :-(
December 17, 2002
(Winter Break)
- Drew, cut, and pinned patterns for the front and rear legs (keeping in mind that I'm working with two DIFFERENT colors here)
- I think I'm ready to work with the real fur fabric

December 16, 2002
(Winter Break)
- Redid my whole pattern for the body. ::sigh:: "Oh the tragedy!" It took all night but I finally used drawings and measurements and a lot of caffeine and it seems to have turned out all right. bodytestfabric03.jpg bodytestfabric02.jpg
August 18, 2002 - Pinned chest fabric on (in final version this will be the white fur) bodytestfabric01.jpg
June 20th, 2002 - Bought 9 yards of $1.00/yard fabric to make test pattern
- Pinned in shape of spine

April 21st - June 19th, 2002 - Began painstaking effort to decide upon next costume
- Decided and began sketching ideas

Materials Needed
Note: all costs are without tax
- 2 pipe cleaners (for ears)
- big metal loop (to attach dog tag to collar)
- Gold dog tag engraved at the dog tag machine at my Pet Store where I work at - [$8.00]
- Acrylic paint (4 different colors to paint white PVC vinyl: pink for ears, red for collar, black for nose and eyes, brown for eyes) - [4 bottles @ $0.88/bottle]
- White PVC vinyl (for collar, nose, eyes and inside of ears) - I just needed a small bit and had some left over from my previous Umi Costume for ACen 2002
- Celluclay - I splurged an extra buck and got the "extra white" stuff because it looks happier! - [$6.99]
- Staples (to attach and hold together different parts of wire mesh head)
- Slippers in the shape of dogs :-D (I used these to wear on my feet and took advantage of their non-slip bottom and the fact that they would help puff out Ein's feet... slippers seen in bodytestfabric04.jpg)
- Brown flannel-backed fur fabric - [5 yards @ $5.99/yard]
- Off-white flannel-backed fur fabric - [2 yards @ $5.99/yard]
- Test Fabric - [9 yards @ $1.00/yard]
- Hot Glue (2 big bags of it which I had laying around my house, believe it or not)
- Quilt batting (which I had stored in my house for just such an occasion)
- Large roll of Wire mesh (the kind you use for screening windows and doors... I used it to shape Ein's head) - [$8.00]

Total Cost
This costume is not for sale. This is mearly how much it cost for me to make, just in case you're interested. :)
(Note: This cost is determined by the supplies that I purchased... many of the items I used I already had such as fluffy dog slippers and quilt batting)
